The Cursed House of Atreus

The Cursed House of Atreus was written following the narrative of the titular story. The curse which befell the ancestors of Atreus, was bequeathed generations, ultimately reaching its dramatic conclusion in Atreus’ betrayal by his unofficial son. The curse is characterized by infighting, betrayal, and the vitriol with which members of the House of Atreus display towards one another. At the start of the piece, we hear the “curse theme”, which reappears throughout the score, showcasing different moments of betrayal within the narrative. The theme of betrayal is also shown early in the piece, making it’s final appearance at the end, with the death of Atreus.
